Handle-controlled locks are best suited for medium-traffic doors. The locks can be electrically controlled by an access control system or by a remote control system such as a timer, keypad, or push button. EL582 can be used in fire-rated doors. Handle-controlled locks can be set to function as fail locked or as fail unlocked. In the fail locked setting, the lock can be opened by the handle when power is on and cannot be opened by the handle when power is off. In the fail unlocked setting, the electrical function is reversed. The locks are always automatically deadlocked when the door is closed. In EL582 both outside and inside handles are electrically controlled. Mechanical opening by cylinder is always possible. Generally used in exterior doors of houses as well as interior- and exterior doors of offices and business premises. Cannot be used indoors with door automatics.
